The Queen's Award for Enterprise
This Royal Award is given to individuals who have played an outstanding and significant role in promoting business enterprise skills and attitudes in other people. Each year there are up to 10 standard Awards and a Lifetime Achievement Award for someone who has shown outstanding consistent and effective promotion of business enterprise attitudes and skills over 10 years or more. Successful nominees are likely to be working in business, education, training or youth work.

Queens Award for Enterprise
The impact of the individual could be national or regional or local. The assessors look for:-
- Entrepreneurs, business men and women, inventors and innovators give their time and, possibly, financial support to other potential entrepreneurs whether or not they are still in education or at the business start-up/growth stage
- Those in education, training or youth work who are providing people of all ages, particularly the young, with enterprise skills and attitudes.
- Those individuals in social enterprises who achieve business outcomes or equip others with business skills.
The assessors take particular note of whether is making an impact on deprived areas or in disadvantaged groups (e.g. ex-coalminers)and contributes more than their 9-5 paid activity.
Above all, they consider “What makes this person stand out from others doing the same job?”
Nominations can be made at any time between 21 April and midnight on 31 October 2008 for the 2009 Awards. The Awards are presented at a reception held at Buckingham Palace hosted by The Queen in July each year. Those who nominate the successful candidate are also invited.
