Alison Platt
Alison’s current role is Group Development Director,at BUPA. She took up this post earlier this year having overseen the sale of BUPA's Hospital business to private equity group, Cinven. Alison has been Chief Operating Officer of that business for the previous three years with full profit, operational and regulatory responsibility for all hospitals across the UK.
As Group Development Director she is charged with leading the Group's efforts to establish BUPA as the leading customer focused player in the health and care field internationally.
Prior to working in the hospital business, Alison spent 11 years in BUPA's insurance business, latterly as Deputy Managing Director where she held full day to day responsibility for the running of the business. Before joining BUPA Alison held a number of key roles in British Airways PlC
Outside of BUPA she is a Non-Executive Director of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and a board member of Skills for Health, which is the Sector Skills Council for the health sector. Their aim is to help the whole sector (NHS and independent) develop solutions that deliver a skilled and flexible UK workforce in order to improve health and health-care.
Alison also sits on the leadership team of Opportunity Now, which seeks to ensure businesses champion gender equality and realise the fullest potential of women in their workforce.
