Alison Platt

Alison’s current role is Divisional Managing Director - Europe & North America  at Bupa. She took up this post late in 2009 having been part of the team which oversaw the sale of Bupa's Hospital business to private equity group, Cinven. Alison had been Chief Operating Officer of that business for the previous three years with full profit, operational and regulatory responsibility for all hospitals across the UK. As Group Development Director she is charged with leading the development activity across the Bupa Group to build and create a global business recognised as a leader in the field of health and care. Working across all of Bupa's divisions, the role focuses on ensuring that the key strategic objectives are delivered in each territory and market.  Additionally the role has full accountability for the development and execution of a global brand marketing strategy, web and digital platforms, corporate social responsibility and corporate communications - including government relations.  Additional accountability includes the group medical function which is responsible for clinical development and governance. Prior to working in the Hospital business, Alison spent 11 years in Bupa’s insurance business, latterly as Deputy Managing Director where she held full day to day responsibility for the running of the business. Before joining Bupa Alison held a number of key roles in British Airways plc. Outside of Bupa she is a Non-Executive Director of the Foreign & Commonwealth Office.
